Can it be done?
•What will the final product look like—text? images? size? format? length?
An e-book version of a “lecture guide” type book.
Text, with simple images (photos of composers, stock photos of instruments).
For each lecture hour: 2 pages (1 text + pic; 1 activity/note space – this may vary), with 15 weeks x 3 hours per week = 90 pages. Additionally, basic course information, plus homework, glossary, and links… maybe 110 pages. [OMG THAT SOUNDS LONG!!]
•How much have I already written? How much is left to do?
Nothing. Everything.
•How much of the thinking/planning have I already done? How much is left to do?
Not enough (as I just finished my semester and my administration sent me straight into a four-week intensive course). Too much.
•When do I plan to write?
As soon as possible. I will have more time starting next week.

I suggest you go through the process with a manageable chunk--say, three weeks' worth. That's enough to work out a structure/organization and get some feedback on the material. And you'll format that much up. Then you can add the rest after the class.

ReplyDeleteDorothy E. Zemach Thank you for the encouragement, Dorothy! :) I hope my post did not sound too negative; I'm just standing at the foot of the mountain looking up, so to speak. Pictures are no problem to find (lots of free / CC stuff for material of this sort)..
