Can it be done?
Yes – I developed a similar manual for the chapters our teachers are using this semester in a few weeks.
•What will the final product look like—text? images? size? format? length?
It will be mainly text. Images would just be to add interest. It could possibly include some graphic organizers to help students as they learn to take notes from academic texts. The two chapters I am targeting have a combined 14 sections. Each section would have discussion questions and at least one supplemental activity, so my estimate is 30-40 pages. If time becomes a factor I can just do one chapter during the class.
•How much have I already written? How much is left to do?
Nothing/everything
•How much of the thinking/planning have I already done? How much is left to do?
I know the kinds of activities that should be included, but need to develop them around this specific content. The framework is there, but that is all.
•When do I plan to write?
That is the question. We are just heading into final exams so my plate is very full right now, but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity for this course. I will have some time in the evenings and weekends, and I may be able to devote one morning a week at work to it.
