Can it be done?

Can it be done?

•What will the final product look like—text? images? size? format? length?

The final product will be text and images (line drawings to allow students to color the pictures and personalize the story in paperback, color in e-pub). In terms of size - the first book has five pages and ten drawings.

•How much have I already written? How much is left to do?

It's written and illustrated. The drawings were scanned in. Some checks on the size of the files may have to be done.

•How much of the thinking/planning have I already done? How much is left to do?

I've planned the cover and layout, but still have to think of the size of page for the paperback.

•When do I plan to write?

I will be writing a follow-up to the first book, The Tiger Biker, mainly during the early mornings.

  1. If you know your final word count, I can suggest a trim size for the paperback. If you're doing readers, then a series is a great idea, so if you have a follow-up book, that's great.

  2. Ah. You may be a bit short for a paperback--minimum # of pages is 24, though that does include copyright page, table of contents, etc. And that would be pretty slim even at 5 x 8. For an ebook, it's fine though.

  3. So if we add the story of the Lion Singer (198 words), the Elephant Dancer (208 words) ad the Ostrich Runner (278 words) and call it The Tiger Biker and Friends?

  4. For a ebook, short is no problem. For a paperback, we need to hit that 24 pages. Does each drawing take up one full page?

  5. Do you have a file of 1-2 stories that you could post now, for me to take a look at?

  6. So like, 8 pages for the Lion Singer...

You'll also have a copyright page, a table of contents page, perhaps an About the Author page at the end... if we are thinking about paperback, I mean. For ebook, of course no problem.
