Week 1 HOMEWORK #1
•Who would read/use my material?
•Why? What would they gain from it?
•What are they currently using or reading instead?
•Why do I think my material (or idea) is good?
I intend to write my material for novice teachers and those who are working at the elementary school level in public schools. I expect that they gain insights on techniques and strategies that could apply to their contexts and be easily followed on a day to day basis with children who are beginners (in the case of easy activities for beginners) and the second audience would be secondary school teachers of intermediate to advanced students who need to keep their students engaged in learning. Currently each teacher decides on a text and they are supposed to follow a national curriculum but in reality they have difficulty adapting the contents to their contexts. So, I would like to find a way to make adaptations to those particular contexts. I believe it is a good idea because I have visited the regions and have seen the need. I have also seen they do not have access to material and this could be a good way to start a bank of suggested materials for them to use.
Oh, interesting. And it's great that you have a specific audience in mind already. That makes it a lot easier to write for them!
ReplyDeleteI like this as I often get asked by other teachers what they can do or use in the classroom. I'm sure this will find a wide audence.
